RED Night at Hootenanny
September 9th, 2008
Chicago, Illinois - September 9th , 2008 - Hootenanny, a Chicago-based editorial boutique, hosted an informational meeting for clients in August centering on the RED camera. FxPHD co-founder Mike Seymourwas in town from Australia and addressed the crowd in a "what you need to know" seminar. Having owned RED camera #22 since early last year and tested it under strenuous conditions, Mike was an excellent resource on the strengths and weaknesses of shooting with RED.The crowd was briefed on everything from myths about the price of the camera to how the enhanced image can benefit the clients' end product. The Hootenanny staff chimed in on their experience with the RED workflow on a recent Leo Burnett project. "We had a very tight timetable on our last RED project, so it was even more important than ever to involve the editorial team early in the process to facilitate the shoot,"stated editor Jerem Sloan. "But once we ingested the data, the project flowed beautifully." Fletcher Camera provided a Red camera for the evening, and guests were shown a Peter Jackson trailer shot entirely on RED. Hootenanny producer Don Avila related, "We are finding more and more clients are wanting to shoot with this camera, but are in the dark about how it works. We are providing the knowledge they need to get going, and the experience to take their footage through the post process."Hootenanny, LLC is a boutique post-production company offering SD & HD services in creative editorial, finishing, graphic design, and visual effects, Hootenanny was founded in 2008 by Jim Annerino and Liz Tate.
